How we approach pergolas
Shade makes a backyard usable in a Western Sydney summer. A well-built pergola gives you that shade and frames the outdoor area, but only if posts are plumb, beams are sized correctly and it ties into the house cleanly.
We build timber pergolas on new or existing decks and slabs, measured and cut on site so rafters, beams and fascia line up with the house rather than fighting it.
Pergolas are typically built in treated pine or hardwood, painted or stained to suit the house. If you want a roof on it, we frame for the sheeting you choose and allow for fall and drainage.

Approvals in NSW
Some outdoor structures can be built as exempt development if they meet every standard in the NSW Codes SEPP; others need a complying development certificate (CDC) or a DA from your council. Rules depend on size, height, setbacks and lot constraints such as heritage, bushfire or flood. Check your address on the NSW Planning Portal, and we will flag anything we notice when we quote.

Common questions
Do I need approval for a pergola?
Small pergolas can be exempt development in NSW if they meet all the standards, including size, height and boundary setbacks. Roofed structures, bigger pergolas or constrained lots may need a CDC or DA. Check the NSW Planning Portal for your address.
Can you build a pergola over my existing deck?
Often, yes, if the deck framing and footings can take the extra loads or we add independent posts and footings. We check this on site before quoting.
Do you do insulated or louvre roofs?
We are carpenters, so we build timber pergolas and the framing for a roof. For specialist louvre systems we can frame to suit, or point you to a specialist.
